チーム九谷の第八回展のテーマは「小さくとも美しい香合」です。 香合は小さな器ですが、炭道具のなかに組み込まれる場合と、床に飾られる場合と二通りあります。 小さくとも存在感のある道具で、どの席中でも人々の目を引きます。 とくに再興九谷「吉田屋」の香合は交趾香合に似て、その多様な形と鮮やかな色合いが魅力的です。
今展の参加メンバーもベテランから若手中心に替わり、現代九谷の表現は繊細かつ多様になりました。 中田博士さんの真珠のような光沢の香合《白峰》と《モモタマナ》、見附正康さんの緻密な幾何学模様の《赤絵彩描ダイヤ紋香合》、牟田陽日さんの北斎の波を想わせる色絵磁器香合《碆(は)》など、現代九谷のオリジナリティーは多くの人々の心を魅了して止みません。
