| Introduction Introduction |
The heavens are round and the earth is square.
Because my job involves turning pottery at a wheel, I'm often looking down. I like to lift my head in between and look at the sky I can see through the tall, narrow window of my workshop. Sunny days are good, cloudy days are good, rainy days are good. I also like the night sky. The moon and stars are so lively.
The kind of pottery I want to create seems to be the kind that reaches towards the heavens, and I'm drawn to celadon and tenmoku ware. Although pottery is fragile, I also believe it outlives humans. Somehow, that's the feeling I've always had about wanting to create pottery.
This will be my eighth solo exhibition at Kakiden, a venue that has given me opportunities to grow as an artist. I would appreciate your guidance and instruction.
