Recently, Takeshi Imaizumi has been particularly interested in the traditional styles found in antique pottery. In this solo exhibition, he seems to intend to honestly reflect those feelings in the forms of his vessels.
When creating artwork, confronting past aesthetic styles is unavoidable. However, in most cases, one would either pretend not to see them or act deliberately against them. It is precisely because Imaizumi dares to look at them head-on that this is so characteristic of him. The history of ceramics connects the past to the future. Therefore, it is especially important now, at this particular time, to ask himself questions again and unravel the relationship between the past and the forms he wants to create.
However, despite appearing to be a planner, Imaizumi actually has a stubborn side and won't rest until she's tried something. Furthermore, her interest extends beyond antique pottery to a wide variety of other things. She still has so many things she wants to do that she might reach the opening day of her solo exhibition without having narrowed them down yet.
Imaizumi has challenged herself with a great many techniques up until now. This time too, she is grappling with a variety of techniques, including black glaze, white porcelain, celadon, and lapis lazuli glaze. Therefore, the works displayed at the venue will be the answers to this moment. She will surely feel the strengths and weaknesses of each, so it will be very interesting to see what she discovers and grasps from them.
