I believe that "Yūkoku" (a type of Japanese art) is an art form that creates a small universe with boundless imagination.
Bishop's calligraphy possesses an overwhelming power that evokes a unique and vibrant sense of life in each individual who possesses a seal. Surely, this stems from his personality, his way of life focused on seeing the good in others, and his inherent kindness.
The first seal made for me, bearing the name "Ryuji," features a sumo ring, which is everything to Aminishiki. The calligraphy is lighthearted, befitting Aminishiki, who served as a sekitori for 117 tournaments, tying for the most in history as a skilled craftsman. It brings back memories of him calmly achieving kinboshi (victories against yokozuna).
And here is the sign for the Ajigawa stable, now in its fourth year of operation. The lettering is incredibly powerful, yet it also conveys warmth and a sense of individuality. I think you can feel the determination and pride of Oyakata Ajigawa, who didn't inherit a sumo stable, but instead established it from scratch.
Furthermore, it bears the mark of Ozeki Ansei Nishiki. His unshakeable sumo stance is immediately apparent. He embodies sincere sumo, keeping his body low and constantly moving forward. He inspires confidence and shows great potential for the future.
The adventures and journeys of Professor Bishop and the Ajikawa stable will continue. We will continue to strive to train sumo wrestlers who can move the hearts of their teachers and inspire them to want to create their own seal. | Biography Biography | Born in 1953 into the Nagasaka family, his father and grandmother were vocalists, and his mother and grandfather were painters. 1970: Studied under stage designer Setsu Asakura. 1973: Graduated from Kuwasawa Design Institute, Department of Industrial Design. 1975: Joined Fujingaho Co., Ltd. 2011: Resigned from Hachette Fujingaho Co., Ltd. (formerly Fujingaho Co., Ltd.) 2012: Bishop Co., Ltd. established. In addition to various other jobs, I also work as a stone artist. We collaborate with various parties using hand-carved personal logos. |
