| Introduction Introduction |
I am pleased to announce that I will be holding my fourth exhibition at Kakiden Gallery.
In this exhibition, we will be showcasing tableware, tea sets, sake sets, and flower vases, with straw ash glaze (mottled Karatsu) and brushstroke glaze as our two main themes.
The straw ash used in Madara Karatsu ware comes from rice grown without pesticides or fertilizers, which is kindly provided by Mr. Miyazaki of "Megumi no Sato," a direct-from-the-producer shop in Karatsu. We have been conducting numerous tests little by little, aiming to create a straw ash glaze that can be widely enjoyed by everyone.
Furthermore, brushwork on the clay surface of the pottery is achieved by using brushes made from bundles of animal hair or the same rice straw used for the glaze.
I use straw as a material for glaze and for making affordable tools in my pottery every year. I would be delighted if you could take this opportunity to see my work. We hope you enjoy using it. Kenta Nakazato |
