Introduction
Introduction

In Karatsu-Mikari, where Kenta Nakazato lives, there is the Ryuta Kiln, which was opened by his grandfather, Takashi Nakazato, about 50 years ago.

It was named by Professor Fujio Koyama, a pioneer in the study of Oriental ceramics.

A stream flows through this kiln, and pottery is born amidst the pure air of the forest.

Ryuta Kiln is truly the most beautiful pottery village in Japan, a paradise for ceramics.

To be honest, I discovered the true joy of using pottery at Ryuta Kiln.

Having a favorite dish makes drinks and food taste even better. It's even more enjoyable if you have companions to share it with. If you have affordable dishes nearby, you can put flowers in them. Flowers naturally nourish the soul and lift one's spirits.

The first generation, Takashi, is known as the maestro of Karatsu ware, followed by his son, Taiki, the second generation, and then their daughter, Hanako.

Both of them are now leading ceramic artists in the Japanese pottery world.

And now, it's finally time for Kenta, the third generation, to take over and support Ryuta Kiln.

His goal is to create tableware that is close to the lives of the people who use it.

I will firmly follow the path that my grandfather and father walked.

Pottery making in this Reiwa era is by no means easy.

We kindly ask that you continue to support Kenta's work for many years to come.
