| Introduction Introduction |
Around the time when winter and spring are vying for dominance, after the Hina Matsuri festival, we will be holding a solo exhibition by Shuuji Fujimura . Mr. Fujimura is a ceramic artist who creates pottery in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, and is turning 60 this year. Mr. Fujimura's teacher was the late Tsuchihira Tsuboshima, a disciple of the renowned modern tea ceremony master Kawakita Handeishi, making Mr. Fujimura a grand-disciple of Handeishi.
Fujimura's works are characterized by their bold forms and exquisite brushwork, and his range of creations is diverse, including red enamel, polychrome enamel, underglaze blue, and Mino porcelain. His honest character has earned him the deep respect of pottery enthusiasts, and in addition to his pottery work, he also diligently practices the tea ceremony and has a thorough understanding of its functions. Two years ago, Ms. Fujimura and I were invited to a wonderful tea ceremony hosted by one of our gallery's regular customers. On that occasion, Ms. Fujimura performed admirably as the principal guest, and thanks to her, we had a very enjoyable time.
Now, in this exhibition, which is the first at our gallery in two years,"Red Ceramics"Under the title, this exhibition will focus on his signature works featuring red decorations, such as akae and iroe, and will showcase his latest creations. Mr. Fujimura will be present at the gallery during the exhibition period, so we would be grateful if you could take the time to view the works despite your busy schedule.
