| Introduction Introduction |
Kazuhiro Suzuki is a writer and researcher specializing in textiles (kireji/woven fabrics). In Kyoto, for three generations, starting with the grandfather, they have dedicated themselves to the study of textiles, reviving designs brought from China and India, and creating a variety of works such as fukusa (silk cloths) and sukiyabukuro (tea ceremony bags). We are deeply grateful for the long-standing support of this artist at our gallery. However, with great regret, this exhibition marks their retirement from art, making it their final solo exhibition.
I love Kazuhiro's textile works, and the tea ceremony pouch I use is made of Unya-style lattice ceiling sarasa fabric. Even though I am still inexperienced, Mr. Kazuhiro taught me a great deal about the fabrics used in the tea ceremony. I am delighted to hear that a book on famous textiles will be published by Tankosha next spring.
Furthermore, this exhibition will showcase textiles used in the tea ceremony, including fukusa (silk cloths used with tea bowls), sukiyabukuro (tea ceremony bags used to carry fans and kaishi paper), obi (sashes), bags, and framed works. In addition to his latest works, such as a fukusa (wrapping cloth) that combines Takeyamachi and Inkin (a type of gold leaf), and a fukusa made with sarasa (a type of woven fabric) that is associated with his father, Kazuhiro, we will also be exhibiting some of Kazuhiro's signature patterns. Additionally, although not for sale, works by your grandfather and father will be on display to add a special touch to the final exhibition. It is with great sadness that we announce this, but we respectfully inform you of the situation.
I am deeply humbled and grateful that you chose our gallery, despite our inexperience, as the venue for your final solo exhibition. I sincerely hope that you will continue to be a fan of Kazuhiro's for many years to come.
