What comes to mind when you think of dyeing and weaving? According to Kazuhiro Suzuki , whom we will introduce today,Textile dyeing is classified into four categories: dyed fabric, woven fabric, embroidered fabric, and knitted fabric.It seems that it will be done.
According to this four-category classification, Kazuhiro says it is a dyed fabric."Old Japanese printed fabric"(Mostly made in India), these are woven pieces of cloth."Famous textiles"(A textile imported from China about 400 years ago), an embroidered piece of fabric."Takeyamachi"He has made a name for himself as a collector, researcher, restorer, and creator of artifacts.
For three generations, since his grandfather's time, the family has dedicated themselves to the study of textiles, and now, using fabrics with restored designs, they create a variety of works, including fukusa (wrapping cloths), sukiyabukuro (tea ceremony bags), and Takeyamachi hanging scrolls. Furthermore, she has admirably carried on the legacy of her father, Hajime, and is dedicating herself to the research and cultural dissemination of period textiles.
This exhibition, my first solo exhibition at our gallery, will feature over 50 works, including my latest piece, a framed artwork from Takeyamachi. Mr. Kazuhiro, who always has a gentle smile on his face, will also be in the hallway throughout the exhibition period. Why not take a moment to reflect on the ancient China and India and consider how such wonderful designs came into being? | Biography Biography | Kazuhiro Suzuki Suzuki Kazuhiro Born in 1950 in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City (current address). Selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Art and Craft Exhibition in 2000. 2002: Received the 17th Silk Museum Award. In 2006, I participated as editor-in-chief in the publication of "Dictionary of Famous Textiles." Solo exhibitions held at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store and Matsuzakaya Nagoya Main Store in 2011. In 2015, the sleeves of the "Who's Sleeve" screen and the celadon vase with inlaid fabric were donated to the National Palace Museum in Taiwan. In 2019, I gave a lecture at San Francisco State University entitled "The Age of Discovery: What World Trade Brought to the Tea Ceremony." Appeared on NHK's "Historical Secrets Historia: What Does the Mysterious Teacup Tell Us?" in 2020. |
