| Introduction Introduction |
My family runs an antique shop, a business that has been in the family for generations, from my grandfather to my father. The name "Ando Tea Utensil Shop" was given by Takahara Shakuan, a connoisseur renowned as a pioneer in the study of tea scoops, to prevent the shop from being confused with others in Gifu, where the Ando surname is common.
However, what Masahiko Andou inherited was not the antique art trade, but the (re)creation of Oribe ware.
A cave is a deep, hollow cavern or similar structure.
To discern the profound depths of this is "insight," and it is Ando's insight, which extends from Oribe's past to the future, that has produced this uniquely shaped bean dish that is a Cinderella fit for the modern dining table.
