| Introduction Introduction |
How are you all doing in this height of summer? We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a father-son exhibition at Kakiden Gallery for the first time in two years. We invite you to view the results of our work over the past two years, primarily focusing on seasonal flower arrangements in a cool and comfortable gallery. Third generation Hyōa Ikeda
We are delighted to be able to hold another father-son exhibition at Kakiden Gallery. Although the weather is extremely hot, I hope that I can convey the refreshing coolness of the basket and bamboo, as well as the joy of using them. We look forward to your visit. Taisuke Ikeda |
| Biography Biography | ▶ Hyōa Ikeda Born in Tokyo in 1951 as the second son of the second-generation Ikeda Hyōa. In 1993, he succeeded to the name of the third generation Hyōa. He explored new possibilities in bamboo art, mainly through the creation of basket flower vases. She is very active and regularly holds solo exhibitions at the Mitsukoshi department store in Nihonbashi. In 2018, she supervised the exhibition "One Hundred Hands of Idleness: Modern Tea Scoops and the Exchange of Tea Ceremony Enthusiasts" held at the MIHO MUSEUM, and in the same year, she served as the host of the "Contemporary Tea Master's Tea Room" tea ceremony hosted by the Nezu Museum. In 2023, at the request of the Kōsetsu Museum of Art, I restored the "Katsuragawa Basket Flower Vase," which was owned by Sen no Rikyū and is currently in the museum's collection. His major works include "Tea Ceremony Bamboo Art: Basket Flower Vases and Bamboo Flower Vases," "Anecdotes about Baskets and Bamboo," and "Tea Ceremony Handmade Book: Tea Scoop and Container" (all published by Tankosha). ▶ Taisuke Ikeda Born in Tokyo in 1981. After graduating from Musashino Art University with a degree in Japanese painting, he studied under his father, the third-generation Ikeda Hyōa. I worked as an instructor at a bamboo craft class with my father and exhibited my work at exhibitions at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Art Gallery and the Kakiden Gallery. In 2014, I was in charge of the illustrations for "The Complete Dictionary of Tea Flowers" (Tankosha). In 2023, I contributed to the series "Assembling Your Own Tea Basket" in the magazine "Nagomi" (Tankosha). |
