| Introduction Introduction |
Tadao Kawasaki is a veteran ceramic artist who will soon be celebrating his 88th birthday. They are diligently crafted in a workshop on the banks of the Tagoe River in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition to her own creative work, she also runs a pottery class, and thanks to the students' hard work and Ms. Kawasaki's enthusiastic guidance, the pieces produced by her students are said to be masterpieces worthy of a professional.
His works are porcelain vessels with meticulous overglaze decoration, encompassing a range of styles including polychrome, underglaze blue, vermilion (hanezu), and green glaze. The motifs depict wildflowers, birds, and small animals, and the pieces, rendered with confident brushstrokes and gentle colors, are sure to soothe the soul. The delicate flowers and plants seem ready to sway in the wind, and the adorable birds and animals appear ready to move at any moment in search of food.
Now, for this exhibition, our gallery's first in two years and marking our fifth time holding it, the theme is "Charming Vessels," and we will be presenting our latest works. The flower vase (which can also be used as an object) that you sent for the invitation was a truly charming piece, with a cute little bird perched on its beautifully colored body, and I was delighted to receive it. I apologize for doing this during the coldest time of the year, but I would be grateful if you could take a look.

| Biography Biography | 1962: Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Crafts and Industrial Design; joined Iwao Porcelain in Arita. In 1969, I received ceramics instruction from J.O.C.V. in India. In 1971, after returning to Japan, he resigned from Iwao Porcelain and built his own kiln. 1975: First selection for the 25th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. 1979: Solo exhibition at Kando-ri; subsequently, exhibitions have been held regularly every year. 1983: Became a full member of the Japan Crafts Association. 2000: Received the Asahi Shimbun Award at the 40th Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition. Solo exhibition at Kakiden Gallery in 2019; has been held regularly since then. |
