| Introduction Introduction |
Iwata Ruri's glass art can be categorized into two types: "three-dimensional works" and "craft works." The former are large-scale works created using the casting technique, while the latter are transparent or brightly colored vases, bowls, and other vessels created using the free-blowing technique.
The fact that both of them are unique and full of presence is probably because, despite being born into an artistic family spanning three generations—grandfather Fujishichi, father Hisatoshi, and mother Itoko—they have pursued their own unique style, different from everyone else.
Iwata says, "The ideal form of glass is a sphere." In a zero-gravity environment, liquids become spheres due to surface tension, but when a glass sphere passes through Iwata's hands, it is reborn into a highly artistic vessel that only Iwata could create.
The transparent vessel features white, black, and red beads, along with white, black, and red lines, creating a refined yet simple design.

| Biography Biography | Born in Tokyo in 1951 as the eldest daughter of Hisatoshi Iwata. 1970: Solo exhibition (Mune Kogeisha/Tokyo). Solo exhibitions have been held annually since then. 1977: Graduated from the Department of Metal Casting, Graduate School, Tokyo University of the Arts. 1989: 14th Yoshida Isoya Award, "Architecture-Related Art Category" (Tokyo Salesio Gakuen/Tokyo) 1998: Grand Prize at the "Suntory Museum of Art Grand Prize Exhibition '98 - Challenging Forms" (Suntory Museum of Art/Tokyo) 2022-2023 Tea Room Exhibition "Iwata Ruri GLASS x Iron x Tea Room" (Yamaguchi Prefectural Hagi Museum of Art, Urakami Memorial Hall) Three-dimensional artworks exhibited at "Marunouchi STREET GALLERY" (Marunouchi/Tokyo) from 2025 to 2027.
