| Introduction Introduction |
In 2019, Rakusai Godai gave a lecture at the Denver Art Museum in the United States. At that time, he quoted an essay by the haiku poet Kato Shuson titled "Shigaraki Under the Moonlight," and said that the ideal of his own work was the way a large Shigaraki vase bathed in the bright moonlight "stands on nothing, does not pander to anything, and sits on its own in an extremely natural manner." And thus, "Uzukumaru" was born. It is a vase-shaped squatting basin that stands upright, with intense charring and sticking visible from the shoulder to the lower part of the body. The shoulder is also decorated with a cypress fence pattern, and two streaks of beads create a beautiful scene. The "Tea Bowl" is characterized by the spatula-cut sides, which are very pleasing to the eye.
The second daughter Yoshiko's "tea bowl" shows ash glaze and charring, and has a plump, warm feel. The "shinogi flower vase" is like gazing at an elegant woman, and the beautiful curve from the shoulder to the hem is captivating.
Akira Tao 's "Orbit Vase" combines a collection of prisms with two curves, creating a unique atmosphere. "Tea Bowl," on the other hand, is composed of polyhedra and is a contemplative tea bowl, in contrast to the other two artists.
