| Introduction Introduction |
萩焼は、侘び茶が隆盛を極めた桃山文化後期の17世紀前期に、招来した朝鮮陶工を用いて毛利家中(萩藩御用窯)が創成した施釉陶器で、特に高麗茶碗風のスタイルとテイストに声価が高い、国焼の一流である。
岡田裕(昭和21年生)は、四百年余の伝統をいまに体現する萩焼作家のトップランナー。 平成18年に山口県無形文化財「萩焼」保持者に認定された熟練の技で、伝統美を正中に据えた茶道具を陸続と立ち上げて「茶陶 萩」の真骨頂を示してきた。 一方で、簡潔な造形の〈白釉〉や悠揚な心象風景を表現した〈炎彩〉など、近年は作風を拡大させている。
伝統の土と釉を活かしながら、造形感覚の清新さで豊かな芸術性を追求する、「岡田 萩」の現在形を堪能したい。
