Introduction
Introduction

I have high expectations for Yuu Okada 's tea ceramics.

I think my friendship with Mr. Okada has now lasted for over 30 years.

What was once a rising star has become a mid-career professional, and now, as a leader of the Japan Crafts Association, he is actively working as a representative figure of Hagi ware.

This upcoming solo exhibition is a tea ceremony pottery exhibition, and I remember seeing a tea bowl a few years ago that had a gentle form, was generously covered in white glaze, and had the unique kiln transformation characteristic of Hagi ware, which I thought was truly impressive.

It is presumed that the phrase "First Raku, second Hagi, third Karatsu" was coined by a tea master of the Senke school, and that sentiment still permeates the world of tea, with Karatsu ware holding a higher reputation than tea bowls from other kilns.

Ms. Okada is truly one of the important figures supporting Hagi ware, and this solo exhibition is sure to delight us.
