Introduction
Introduction

When you're in charge of a museum dedicated to the tea ceremony, you naturally become close to the ten craftsmen of the Senke school.

In particular, Mr. Tsuchida, the previous head of the family, was exceptional.

My older brother, Hanshiro, has become the head of the family and has admirably inherited the Tsuchida family's character, and is now in a position of great confidence.

I heard that he visited his brother's kiln again this time and is putting a lot of effort into collaborating with him.

This is important for a family of craftsmen, and it makes me happy that the brothers are getting along well, fulfilling their duties not just as the eldest son, Jinroku, but as a whole.

His younger brother, Ken, after training in Karatsu, is now diligently creating pottery in Oisawa, a scenic area at the foot of Mount Gassan, one of the Dewa Sanzan mountains, a place with ties to his mother's family.

Tea ceremony utensils are not merely works of art; their true value lies in their use.

When combining the various tools, it is desirable that they respond to each other naturally and without any strain.

Because their works align with my preferences, I unconsciously include them as part of the set every time I use a hanging kettle.
