Introduction
Introduction

Two years ago, when I was talking with Morimitsu Hosokawa about pottery making, I suggested that he dedicate himself to making tea bowls, as this would be a unique approach to pottery making befitting someone born into the Hosokawa family, which has a 600-year history.

And so, I made a promise with the shop owner, Mr. Yasuda, to hold this tea bowl exhibition, and now that day is finally approaching. When I checked in with him the other day, he said that he would be firing two more kilns of pottery with great care before the exhibition opens.

I too waited for that day with a sense of anticipation, wondering what kind of tea bowl would be created.
