| Introduction Introduction |
I believe I met Atsushi Takagaki about a dozen years ago. He has been passionate about celadon and has earnestly strived to create his own unique style of celadon. He has now created a type of celadon that he calls "Akane Celadon," and is continuing to refine it further. In order to participate in the "Contemporary Masterpieces of Tea Bowls" exhibition to be held at the Chikan Museum from September this year, I began working on a new style of celadon tea bowl, and after considerable trial and error, I recently produced a new tea bowl, as if the clouds had cleared. I was born in 1946, so I will soon be turning 70. I'm sure he'll continue to develop his own unique style, and I hope this solo exhibition will be a turning point in that process. Haruzo Hayashiya |
