| Introduction Introduction |
Chiharu Hayasuke is a female Kutani ware artist from Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, who creates beautiful paintings on porcelain. The artwork is primarily blue, adorned with exotic and intricate geometric patterns. The motifs in her patterns include the phases of the moon and stars, and the world she depicts is unlike anyone else's, making it truly unique. His works, which evoke an exotic atmosphere that invites you on a journey, combined with his kind and sincere personality, have captured the hearts of pottery lovers. Of course, I myself am one of Hayasuke's fans.
One day in April, I headed to rainy Kanazawa to visit Hayasuke-san. When I arrived at their home and workshop, Hayasuke and her husband greeted me with big smiles. We enjoyed delicious tea and sweets, and then our planning meeting for this exhibition began. While viewing the works planned for exhibition and those still in progress, I also learned about the painting process. Apparently, the electric kiln is fired in three stages: ① line drawing, ② spray painting, and ③ Japanese pigments and gold leaf application. Because Japanese pigments are used, the surface is slightly raised, giving it a three-dimensional effect. Currently, she works as a typical overglaze painter in Kutani ware, diligently painting on bodies made by potters, but she smiled and said, "I hope to one day be able to make the bodies myself on a potter's wheel." We look forward to seeing her work on the Hayasuke potter's wheel.
In addition to his production work, he loves watching American dramas on Netflix. I, too, was hooked on the American TV series "24" in the past and admired the main character, Jack Bauer, so I'm delighted to hear your story.
This is the long-awaited first Hayasuke exhibition at our gallery. They even took on the challenge of making teacups for our valued customers. In addition, we will be presenting over 40 new works with an exotic feel, including jade cups, lidded containers, and single-flower vases. We hope you will enjoy viewing them. In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Buzan Fukushima the master of Akae Saibyo, for giving me the valuable opportunity to meet Mr. Hayasuke. Thank you very much.
