| Introduction Introduction |
We are pleased to announce that, after a four-year hiatus, we will be holding the third "Nara-zukushi Craft Exhibition - Connecting the Generations."
Last time, the event was held under circumstances that made it difficult for everyone to travel, but thanks to the support of Toshodai-ji Temple, Kakiden Gallery, and all those involved, we were able to successfully conclude the craft exhibition. We are also deeply grateful to everyone who came and gave us such great encouragement.
This craft exhibition was planned with the hope that traditional craftspeople currently working in Nara will connect with the next generation and showcase their work to the public. Nara is one of the few prefectures that has preserved tea ceremony utensils in many different materials, including wood, iron, bamboo, and ceramics.
In order to pass on this tradition to future generations, we would like to introduce our work. I apologize for bothering you during your busy schedule, but I would be grateful if you could take a look.

| Biography Biography | ▶ Shouzou Kawabe Kawabe Shozo Born in 1952 in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture. He learned the techniques of making tea ceremony kettles from his father, the second-generation Shozo. Nara Saidaiji Temple dedicates a large cauldron for the "Great Tea Ceremony." Cauldrons were dedicated to Todai-ji Temple, Yakushi-ji Temple, and Kashihara Shrine. ▶ Shouko Kawabe Kawabe Shoko Born in 1981 in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture. I learned the techniques of making tea ceremony kettles from my father, the third-generation Shozo. In 2011, a father-daughter exhibition was held at the Shinjuku Kakiden Gallery. 2013: Dedicated a cauldron to Ise Grand Shrine. ▶ Kyokusai Sakamoto Sakamoto Kyokusai Born in 1948 in Nara City, Nara Prefecture. In 1974, he was selected for the first time at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and has won awards several times since. 2019: Production of a raw-material replica of a five-stringed biwa (lute) with mother-of-pearl inlay made from rosewood (a treasure of the Shōsōin). Other services include the creation and repair of furnishings for Yakushiji, Todaiji, Kofukuji, Shokoji, etc. ▶ Yoshihiro Sakamoto Sakamoto Yoshihiro Born in Nara City, Nara Prefecture in 1976. 2011: Completed training at the Wajima Lacquerware Technology Training Institute. While helping out in her father's workshop, she also creates her own works. 2016: Selected for the 63rd Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. ▶ Osamu Sakamoto Sakamoto Osamu Born in Nara City, Nara Prefecture in 1979. Graduated from the Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Lacquerware Technical Training Institute, Lacquerware Department in 2006. Studied under Kazumi Murose, holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Makie lacquerware). 2013: 30th Japan Traditional Lacquerware Exhibition, Asahi Shimbun Award ▶ Takaaki Takeda Takeda Takaaki Built kiln in 1983 ICOM World Council of Museums Closing Space 60th and 70th Shosoin Exhibition Commemorative Event: Spatial Design Using Lighting Devices They handle spatial events at national museums in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara. ▶ Mei Takeda Takeda Mei Born in 1986 as the eldest daughter of Takaaki Takeda of Akahada-yaki Neiya Kobo. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts in 2009, I studied under my father, Takaaki Takeda at the Akahada-yaki Neiya Workshop. |

Thank you very much for your cooperation. ▶ Invitation to the Nara Tea Ceremony A commemorative tea ceremony for this exhibition, "Naraku Tea Ceremony," will be held in the tea room of Shinjuku Kakiden, located above the Kakiden Gallery. The host of the exhibition will be the collaborative effort of all the exhibiting artists. Even if you've never participated in a tea ceremony before, you are more than welcome, so please feel free to come and enjoy a cup of tea during this time of year, with tea ceremony utensils associated with Nara.
