Biography Biography	▶大西雅文 Oonishi Masafumi Born in 1980 as the eldest son of the fourth generation of the Tanbun Kiln. Graduated from Osaka College of Arts, Department of Design and Fine Arts, Crafts Major in 2000. Studied under Hiroshige Kato (Kasentoen) in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. In 2004, I began making pottery at Tachikui Tanbun Kiln. 2005: First solo exhibition at Kakogawa Department Store Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶勝尾龍彦 Katsuo. Tatsuhiko Born in 1971 in Gojozaka, Kyoto. From the age of ten, he participated in the construction of kilns such as the Shigaraki climbing kiln of his father, the second-generation Seiryudo, and began firing kilns and making pottery. 1993: Studied under Professor Tansai Kato and Professor Takushi Hayashiya. In 1997, I held a joint exhibition with Mr. Tansai Kato (at our gallery). In 2015, a tea bowl was dedicated to the Nikko Toshogu Shrine during its 400th anniversary grand festival. 2019 Prince Akishino Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶澤 克典 Sawa Katsunori Born in 1980 in Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. 2002: Completed training at Shiga Prefectural Ceramics Research Institute 鈴木五郎先生に師事する Established in 2005 in Shigaraki-cho, Shiga Prefecture. Solo exhibition at Gallery Touen in 2006 Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶新庄貞嗣 Shinjo Sadatsugu Born in 1950 as the eldest son of the thirteenth generation Kanzan (Tadasuke). 1977: Completed graduate studies in sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts. 2000: Exhibited at the "400th Anniversary of Hagi Ware: Paris Exhibition" (Japan Cultural Institute/Paris) 2005: Received the Yamaguchi Prefecture Award (for meritorious service in arts and culture). 2009: Exhibited at the "Hagi Domain's Official Kiln and Famous Tea Utensils" - Traditional Hagi Ware Exhibition (Mori Museum) In 2018, I was designated a holder of Yamaguchi Prefecture's designated intangible cultural property, "Hagi ware." Awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in 2021. 2022: Exhibited at the "Ceramics Connecting to the Future - The Power of Traditional Crafts Exhibition" (touring 8 venues nationwide). Currently, he is a director of the Japan Crafts Association and the secretary-general of its Yamaguchi branch. ▶新庄紹弘 Shinjo Akihiro Born in 1985 in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, as the eldest son of Sadaji, the 14th generation of the Shinjo Sukeemon Kiln. Graduated from Waseda University in 2010. In 2013, I completed the Kyoto City Traditional Industrial Technology Training Program and began pottery making under my father's guidance. 2017 Hagi-denryu - Exhibition of Six Young Artists - (Kakiden Gallery) 2019 Hagi Tradition II - From the Beginning Exhibition - (Kakiden Gallery) ▶鈴木大弓 Suzuki Hiroyumi Born in Sendai City in 1981. 2005: Trained in Mungyeong and Gyeongju, South Korea. Established in Shigaraki in 2009. 2010: First solo exhibition at Gallery Touen (Shigaraki) Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶鈴木 健 Suzuki Takeshi Born in 1971 in Ichinokura-cho, Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. 1997: Completed the advanced course at the Kyoto City Industrial Technology Center. 2005: Selected for the 52nd Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition (and has been selected for numerous other exhibitions since). 2007: Selected for the 38th Tokai Traditional Crafts Exhibition (and has been selected for numerous other exhibitions since). 2009: Certified as a full member of the Japan Crafts Association. 2015: 46th Tokai Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Nagoya Mayor's Award; 6th Kikuchi Biennale, Selected for the competition. 2016: 47th Tokai Traditional Crafts Exhibition, NHK Nagoya Broadcasting Station Director's Award 2019: Excellent Work Award and Mainichi Shimbun Award at the 25th Japan Ceramics Exhibition; Gifu Prefecture Traditional Culture Inheritor Award for Distinguished Service. 2021 Kasama Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition 2021, Selected for Part of the Open Call Category 2023: First solo exhibition (Kakiden Gallery) ▶Iwaka Takagi Takagi Ganka Born in Kyoto City in 1988. 2008: Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural Advanced Technical School for Ceramics, Department of Molding. 2009: Completed the research course at Kyoto Prefectural Advanced Technical School for Ceramics. 2010: Completed the Ceramics Department at the Kyoto City Industrial Technology Research Institute. Studied under Shinman Yamada of Okinawa Yomitan-yaki pottery. 平成25年　父、五代目高木岩華に師事 In 2016, following the death of the fifth-generation owner, Iwahana, he inherited the family business. 　　　　 　Member of the Kyoto Traditional Ceramic Artists Association Held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶髙橋楽斎 Takahashi Rakusai Born in 1954 in Shigaraki-cho, Shiga Prefecture. 1975: Graduated from Shiga Prefectural Shigaraki Ceramic Research Institute In 1977, the Goyokai was formed under the guidance of Professor Toyozo Arakawa. 1992: Held solo exhibitions (9 times) at Kakiden Gallery. Since then, solo exhibitions have been held at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, Fukuoka Mitsukoshi, Osaka Takashimaya, JR Nagoya Takashimaya, Kyoto Takashimaya, and Yamaguchi Izutsuya. 平成22年　五代 髙橋楽斎 襲名 令和3年　「信楽に生きる 髙橋楽斎 髙橋美子 田尾 晃 三人展」（柿傳ギャラリー） ▶髙橋美子 Takahashi Yoshiko Born in 1988 in Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Graduated from Kansai Gaidai University Junior College, Department of International Communication in 2009. 2012: Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural Ceramic Arts Technical School 2013: Completed training at Shiga Prefectural Shigaraki Ceramic Technology Research Institute 2016-2019: Worked as a technical staff member in the Creative Training Department at Shiga Prefectural Ceramic Art Forest. Currently being produced in Shigaraki Town. ▶谷本 景 Tanimoto Kei Born in 1948 in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, as the eldest son of ceramic artist Mitsuo Tanimoto. In 1970, he studied under Sakuzo Hineno and Jin Kato in Mino. In 1973, he studied copperplate engraving at William Hayter's Studio 17 in Paris. 1977: Demonstration of ceramic works at the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts (France) After returning to Japan, he inherited the Mita Kiln. 2000: Appeared on NHK's "Exploring Pottery." 令和4年　谷本景の軌跡（伊賀市ミュージアム青山讃頌舎／三重） Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶谷本 貴 Tanimoto Takashi 昭和53年　三重県伊賀市に谷本景の長男として生まれる 1997: Enrolled in the Department of Aesthetics and Art Studies, Faculty of Letters, Doshisha University. 2002: Enrolled in Kyoto Prefectural Advanced Technical School for Ceramics. 2003: Studied under Masashi Mori. 2004: Studied in Italy In 2005, after returning to Japan, began pottery making in Iga City. 　　　 　　Gallery Momono-ki "Kei, Yuko, and Taka Exhibition" (Osaka) 　　　 　　ワインシュトゥベ　ハシモト　｢谷本 貴陶展｣（三重） 　　　 　　I will be going to Italy in October with a scholarship from the Okada Cultural Foundation. Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶出口 鯉太郎 Deguchi Koitaro Born in 1960 in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. 昭和58年　金重愫（まこと）氏（備前）のもとで陶芸の道に入る 1986: Completed the Ceramics Training Specialist Course at the Kyoto City Industrial Research Institute. 1995: First solo exhibition at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶森本 仁 Morimoto Hitoshi Born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1976. After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo Zokei University in 1999, he studied under Seiya Toyoba in Mino. Started creating art in Bizen City in 2003. 2011: First solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. ▶Tsuneyama Yamada Yamada Jozan Born in 1954 in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture (Real name: Emu Yamada) My father was the third generation Yamada Jōzan (a Living National Treasure). In 1980, he received the Chozo Prize at the Mino Ceramics Exhibition. In 1982, I was selected for the first time at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. In 1984, he held a solo exhibition at the Nagoya Meitetsu Department Store. He has held exhibitions annually since then. Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. 平成１８年　四代 山田常山を襲名 　日本橋三越本店にて襲名記念展開催 ▶山田 想 Yamada Sou Born in 1979 in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture. 祖父は三代　山田常山（人間国宝）。父は四代　山田常山。 Completed studies at Tokoname Municipal Ceramic Art Institute in 2002. Moved to Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, to continue production. 2004: Returned to Tokoname. 祖父・三代山田常山、父・山田絵夢（現・四代山田常山）の Created under guidance. In 2005, I held my first solo exhibition at Gallery CEPICA in Tokoname. Since then, he has held solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan. 2010: Appeared on NHK's "Yume Kobo" (Dream Workshop for Pottery). ▶青野 正 Aono Tadashi Born in Tokushima Prefecture in 1955. 1993 Fuji Sankei Biennale Contemporary International Sculpture Exhibition, Special Prize, Utsukushigahara Kogen Museum of Art 1997, 2nd Arakawa River Art Contest, Special Prize: Iwabuchi Floodgate 1998: Grand Prize, Monument to the Men of the Mountains, Iwaki City 1999: Grand Prix Monument Award, 10th Kawasaki Steel Design Competition 2011 Japan Art Center 3rd Sculpture Competition Gold Prize Solo exhibition at Kakiden Gallery in 2013. Solo exhibition held at "JAEDONG" in Seoul, South Korea in 2015. ▶池田泰輔 Ikeda Taisuke Born in Tokyo in 1981. 武蔵野美術大学卒業後、父である三代目池田瓢阿に師事 I worked as an instructor at a bamboo craft class with my father and exhibited my work at exhibitions at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Art Gallery and the Kakiden Gallery. In 2014, I was in charge of the illustrations for "The Complete Guide to Tea Flowers" (Tankosha). Featured in the June 2019 issue of the monthly magazine Tanko (published by Tankosha). 2020: First solo exhibition (Kakiden Gallery)
