| Introduction Introduction |
Potter living by the river Ken'ichi Iwase lives with his wife and daughter in a century-old house in the suburbs of Hachioji, Tokyo. Beyond the garden is a cliff, and the relatively wide Kita-Asakawa River flows nearby. He told me that early spring, when the leaves begin to sprout, is the time when he feels most at peace. I, too, felt that this was indeed the case when I first saw the house. Tokyo National Museum Honorary Member / Kikuchi Hiromi Memorial Satoshi Museum Director Harumi Hayashiya |
