桑田さんの陶芸は、多様性に満ちた現代陶芸のなかにあっても、極めてユニークな存在である。白地の器に原色で直線的で明快な構成の文様を表した作品が、それを見る人に強く印象づける。 伝統的な東洋の陶芸にはほとんどなかった作風で、まったく余情を求めない直截の表現に取組んでいる。このような端的な作風には、情の世界にも生きている私のおもいから離れていてほとんど共感を抱かない。しかし作者の創意が「今」そこにあって、心から挑んでいるからには、これは認めなければならないし、若者達には大いなる共感が生じるにちがいない。 しかし桑田さんのこのような作風も、よく観ていると、年々変わりつつ、作品に落ち着きが生じてきたように思うのであり、彼はこれからもぶれることなく、器に自ずからの創意を貫いて、現代陶芸の中にしっかりと存在させてほしいと思う。 Tokyo National Museum Honorary Member / Kikuchi Hiromi Memorial Satoshi Museum Director Harumi Hayashiya |
| Biography Biography | Born in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture in 1981.
