Even within the diverse landscape of contemporary ceramics, Kuwata's work stands out as exceptionally unique. His pieces, featuring primary colors and linear, clear patterns on a white background, leave a strong impression on the viewer. This style is almost entirely absent from traditional East Asian ceramics, employing a direct expression that completely disregards sentimentality. Such a straightforward style feels far removed from my own emotional world, and I feel little empathy for it. However, since the artist's creativity is present "now" and they are wholeheartedly pursuing this challenge, I must acknowledge it, and I'm sure it will evoke great empathy in young people. However, upon closer examination, I feel that Kuwata's style has been evolving year by year, and that his work has gained a sense of stability. I hope that he will continue to stay true to his principles, expressing his own creativity in his pottery and establishing a firm presence within contemporary ceramics. | Biography Biography | Born in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture in 1981.
