| Introduction Introduction |
As winter approaches and the weather gets colder, we will be holding a four-person exhibition titled "Meeting Blue," featuring a calligrapher and three ceramic artists.
While Shimamoto is known as a calligrapher in Japan, she is already active as an artist in the United States and Europe. Using ink and blue, and employing brushes and extra-large brushes, his artwork has established a unique world of its own.
Yasushi Okada is gaining popularity in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, for his works featuring a pale blue glaze, which he calls "Pale Blue Glaze." The beautiful yet ephemeral pale blue color is said to be the blue of the Sea of Japan, which she loves to see from Hagi.
Junji Setsu is a potter in Kyoto who is experimenting with new suminagashi (marbling) techniques. Beyond just the blue color, its beautifully flowing patterns captivate the hearts of pottery lovers and never let go.
Akiko Tomikawa is diligently creating works in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, which she calls "ice blue glaze." The icy, pale blue color of the medicine and the dignified white form have attracted attention.
I am also looking forward to seeing how the latest works of these four artists will resonate with each other in our gallery. I would be delighted if you would take the time to view them.
