| Introduction Introduction |
For the past six years, I have been holding tea ceremonies in the Zangetsu Room of Kakiden, selecting and combining works by contemporary artists, with the aim of "questioning the present regardless of school or style." Haruzo Hayashiya, Honorary Member of the Tokyo National Museum / Director of the Kikuchi Kanmi Memorial Chishin Museum |
| Biography Biography | Born in Fukui City in 1947. Self-taught in dyeing. In 1983, the dyeing workshop "Atelier Yu" was established in Nishijin, Kyoto. While inheriting the tradition of Kyoto dyeing, the artist strives to explore new possibilities in the expression of "dyeing" through their creative work. In addition to traditional Japanese clothing such as kimonos, she also creates tapestries, interior decorations, folding screens, and fiber art sculptures. To create original works, the entire process, from initial conception and design to the final stages, is carried out consistently within the studio, encompassing more than ten separate steps. |
