Yoshiko Mihara 's pottery Last year, I visited Ken Mihara 's pottery studio, located deep within Tamatsukuri Onsen. As we chatted as I entered the workshop, I saw a white-glazed cup on a shelf. When I picked it up, I found it was a slip-glazed, powder-covered ware, but the quiet, decorative raised patterns of small birds, butterflies, rabbits, cats, and twigs with tiny leaves scattered across the body soothed me. It was my first encounter with Mrs. Yoshiko, and I discovered that she was the creator of the cups. She also had other plates with attractive patterns, and I liked them so much that I immediately asked her to make some for me and ordered six cups. The idea for this solo exhibition stemmed from that, and Ken Mihara , who has now become one of the leading figures in contemporary Japanese ceramics, will also be exhibiting his work at the back of the venue. | Biography Biography | 1982: Graduated from Osaka University of Arts, Department of Crafts, Ceramics Major (Seminar of Mitsuru Yamada) After graduation, I studied under Professor Kenji Funaki for two years. Since then, numerous solo and group exhibitions. |
