| Introduction Introduction |
Jeff Shapiro is one of America's leading ceramic artists, with a kiln located near New York City. He once lived in Japan and studied under Jun Isezaki (a Living National Treasure) of Bizen as an outside apprentice, so he has a thorough understanding of Japan. In recent years, he has ventured into the world of tea ceramics, even leading a symposium on tea ceramics in the United States. He is a person who, while sympathizing with Japanese tea ceremony culture, creates tea bowls with pride as an American potter. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of work they'll show us. | Biography Biography | Born in New York State in 1949. 1975: Studied under Jun Isezaki. 1997 (Heisei 9) Okayama Tenmaya Department Store Gallery Exhibition 2002, Canberra, Australia: "National College of the Arts Exhibition" 2003, Este, Italy: "La Medusa Exhibition" 2006, Concord, Massachusetts: Isezaki School Exhibition, "Lacoste Gallery" Dubuque Art Museum, Dubuque, Iowa In 2007, I served as a judging panel member for an international competition in New Zealand.
