Introduction

和田さんは昭和53年に千葉県で生をうけた33歳の作陶家である。私がその作品に注目したのは、平成19年に日本工芸会の第35回新作陶芸展で日本工芸会賞を受賞した頃からである。

そして平成21年に第3回菊池ビエンナーレで奨励賞、同年に第20回日本陶芸展で池田満寿夫賞、さらに平成22年にも第50回東日本伝統工芸展で第50回展記念賞を受け、若手作陶家の旗手として大いに注目されるようになっていった。

清らかな白磁と確かな骨格をもつ造形力は、少しもゆるぐことなく、年々存在感が深まっている。このたび大震災の影響をうけたであろうに個展を催す。どのような作品を見せてくれるのであろうか、期待している。
