| Introduction Introduction |
We are pleased to invite you to view the ceramic art expressions of five individuals who studied in Okinawa.
The alma mater of these five individuals, Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, is located next to Shuri Castle, and its buildings, topped with similar red tile roofs, are designated as a scenic area in Naha City. The pottery studio is located in a lush, hilly area just over a mountain, with open fields right behind it. Creating pottery in such a wonderful environment, and spending the year in a mild climate, naturally results in works that are generous and pleasant to the touch. It seems that this area is popular with high school students from all over the country, and students from various regions come here to live and study.
Professor Yamada is also a junior of mine from Tokyo University of the Arts, and at his request, I was asked to teach a special week-long class on overglaze painting during the winter, which I attended for seven years until three years ago.
My mother is from Kakeroma Island in Amami Oshima, and perhaps because of her southern heritage, she got along surprisingly well with the students, and we've continued to keep in touch even after they've all graduated.
This time, I had the opportunity to organize an exhibition in Tokyo, and I wanted everyone to see her bright and cheerful works, so I introduced her to Takashi Yasuda, the owner of Kakiden Gallery, and he kindly agreed to host the exhibition. Thank you very much.
Mr. Yamada and Mr. Kinjo create their works using iron-rich clay from Okinawa; Mr. Harakon uses porcelain and paints with cobalt blue transfer paper; Mr. Kohama creates intricate designs and applies gold leaf; and Mr. Honda, who has his workshop near Kokusai Street, directs the energy that arises from his diverse surroundings towards the potter's wheel. Each of them is working independently and diligently.

| Biography Biography | ■ Hiromu Kinjou Kinjo Hiromu Born in Okinawa Prefecture in 1989. Graduated from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Department of Crafts, Ceramics Course in 2012. 2014: Completed graduate studies in Ceramics, Lifestyle Design, at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. 2014: Worked at a pottery studio in Yomitan Village (until 2017) 2018 - Present: Educational Support Specialist, Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts Selected for the Okinawa Art Exhibition in 2020 (Okinawa) Currently, I am an educational support specialist at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. ■ Yuuko Kohama Kohama Yuko Born in Okinawa Prefecture in 1989. Completed graduate studies in ceramics at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts in 2015. Summer Planet 2017: A joint exhibition by Aimi Miyagi and Yuuko Kohama 2018-2019 Four Ceramics Exhibition Currently, part-time lecturer in the Ceramics Department at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. ■ Shuujirou Harakon Harakon Shujiro Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1971. 1997: Graduated from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Department of Design and Crafts, Ceramics Course. Educational Assistant, Department of Design and Crafts, Hiroshima City University (until 1998) 2000: Completed graduate studies in Ceramics, Lifestyle Design, at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. 2002: Selected for the 57th Shinsho Kogeikai Exhibition (also selected in 2006, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024) 2011: Exhibited at the Okinawa-Thailand Art Exchange Exhibition (Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts Museum) 2017 "Shirataefu" Three-Person Porcelain Exhibition by Yutaka Idogawa , Kei Kurihara, and Shuujirou Harakon (Tenmaya Hiroshima Hatchobori Art Gallery, Hiroshima) Currently, part-time lecturer in the Ceramics Department at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. ■ Nobuaki Honda Honda Nobuaki Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1981, raised in Nara Prefecture. Graduated from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Ceramics Course in 2004. 2012: Worked as an assistant in the Ceramics field, Crafts Department, Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. 2013: Excellence Award at the 35th Okinawa Craft Exhibition, Honorable Mention at the 36th Okinawa Craft Exhibition 2015 Established Honda Hoshi Pottery 2018: Nicolai Bergmann provided vases for the "Hanami 2050" exhibition at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (Fukuoka). 2018 Nobuaki Honda Solo Exhibition OGUMAGU (Tokyo) Currently, part-time lecturer in the Ceramics Department at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. ■ Satoshi Yamada Yamada Satoshi Born in Okinawa Prefecture in 1967. Graduated from Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts in 1991. 1993 Completed graduate school, Tokyo University of the Arts 1999: Satoshi Yamada Ceramic Exhibition, Tsuboya Pottery Museum 2008: Began creating art in Okinawa (Appointed as a lecturer in the Ceramics course at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts) 2015 Satoshi Yamada Ceramic Exhibition "Journey with No Return" (Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts Art Museum) 2017 Asian Contemporary Ceramics Exchange Exhibition, Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum 2018 Taiwan-Okinawa University of Arts Exchange Exhibition, National Taiwan University of Arts Currently, Professor of Ceramics at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. |

A request to our valued customers We have placed alcohol-based hand sanitizer at the entrance of our gallery and the building. We kindly ask that you disinfect your hands upon arrival. If you have visited a doctor or taken medication for fever or a cold within the past two weeks, or if you have traveled abroad, we kindly ask that you refrain from visiting the gallery. To help reduce crowding in the store, we kindly ask that you visit in small groups whenever possible.
