加藤清之氏は、作品制作に際して、まず不自然さを排除します。 一つ一つ不自然さを排除してゆくことで、自身が納得するフォルムを創り、自身が納得する線を刻みます。 それが、加藤氏の清潔感を大切にする作陶姿勢です。
以前私は、加藤氏の灰釉茶碗について、茶に媚びず茶を飲める唯一の茶碗と記しましたが、新作の茶碗を見ると、そうした意識すら越えているように感じられます。 90歳を前にして、真に自由の境地を極められたのか、心の赴くままに造形も模様も表現されています。 今回の黒土白泥彩茶碗は、轆轤造りではなくタタラ造りによるもので、加藤の強靭な造形力と研ぎ澄まされた感覚によってモダンな茶碗に仕上がっていますが、口縁がべベラになってとても躍動感に溢れています。 今展には、そうした新たな境地をしめす黒土白泥彩茶碗、灰釉茶碗、黄瀬戸茶碗のほか、花器やミニアチュール花器など、魅力ある作品が出品されます。
