Introduction

Vegetables are amazing!

I sometimes find forgotten items in the kitchen, such as onions, carrots, and potatoes.

Just when you think the surface is a little faded and withered and it's beyond saving, a new sprout emerges, demonstrating the regeneration of life.

It's amazing to see the workings of nature happening right in the kitchen!

This will be our fourth joint exhibition, and we too hope for the regeneration of life, and we intend to work hard on our creations with the goal of holding our tenth joint exhibition in the future.

We would greatly appreciate your continued support.

Yasuyoshi Sugiura , Yuko

It was a hot and humid August. I visited Mr. and Mrs. Sugiura's home and workshop in Manazuru.

The garden is overgrown with flowers and plants, and birds and small animals seem to visit the Sugiura residence.

Living in the city, I became very envious, realizing that such wonderful works of art could only be created in this lush, green environment.

Yasumasu and Yuko studied ceramics at Tokyo University of the Arts, and have lived in Manazuru for about 40 years. Using the flowers and plants they have carefully cultivated in the area, Yasumasu creates intricate three-dimensional flowers, while Yuko paints delicate flowers using colored dyes.

In this exhibition, Yasumasa has created new works of vegetable sprouts that make you want to take a bite or peel them, while Yuko has painted ephemeral pictures on porcelain clay cut into the shapes of flowers and fruits.

Time flies, and this will be the fourth time we've held an exhibition of works by Mr. and Mrs. Sugiura at our gallery. We are truly grateful to everyone for making this possible.

Apparently, the number of exhibitions held overseas has increased recently, while the number of presentations held domestically has decreased.

I hope you will enjoy looking at it.
