| Introduction Introduction |
On a still chilly day in February, I visited Seto in Aichi Prefecture for the first time in a while. Seto is my late mother's hometown, and it's a town that holds a gentle warmth for me. I arrived in Seto in the rain, but got lost along the way. I finally managed to reach Mr. Takeuchi's workshop. I am so grateful to Ms. Takeuchi for greeting me with a smile. I had the opportunity to tour the workshop, and we had a wonderful conversation about the artist's passion for his work, the history of Seto, and many other things. I love the three-dimensional quality of Takeuchi's work, and it looks incredibly cool when viewed in a dimly lit tea room. The overlapping shadows are also breathtakingly beautiful. Upon inquiry, I learned that even works that initially appear to be mere objects basically all have holes at the top so that flowers can be placed in them, and I could sense his attention to detail even in such small things. This exhibition, my first solo show at our gallery, will feature over 50 items, including flower vases, tea bowls, water pitchers, sake vessels, and cups. I would be delighted if you would take a look at it.
