| Introduction Introduction |
Ms. Gomi, who always has a refreshing smile on her face, is a young ceramic artist who is gaining attention for her works with graceful forms. I always thought of him as a young writer, but apparently he's already in his forties, making him an author whose future looks even more promising. In addition to his own pottery work, he also serves as a specially appointed professor at Ibaraki Prefectural Kasama Ceramic Art University, where he dedicates himself day and night to passionately guiding his students.
I think the appeal of that work lies in its undulating form and textured surface. Creating these beautiful three-dimensional curves using unglazed pottery must have required tremendous effort, and the way the form and texture resonate with each other must create an indescribable presence.
Now, for this exhibition, our gallery's first in three years, we will be presenting 70 new works, including large-scale sculptures and tea ceremony ceramics and sake vessels that I personally use. Ms. Gomi recently visited our gallery and, with a beaming smile, happily reported, "Thanks to you, I was able to win the Grand Prize at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition!" I was absolutely thrilled, and we both did a little dance of joy. I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations.
