Mr. Iwase is a ceramic artist with whom our gallery has had a long-standing relationship, thanks to his connection through his late mentor, Mr. Kiyomei Tsuji.

Currently, I am diligently tending to the kiln every day in a scenic mountain village near Hachioji, Tokyo.

The wife, whose home cooking is exquisite, also demonstrates her supportive nature, and together with their daughter who cares deeply for her father, they are truly a wonderful family overflowing with love for pottery.

Now, for this exhibition, our gallery's first in two years, we have titled it "Taking on the Kohiki Technique."

She has consistently attended the "Modern Tea Ceremony" tea ceremonies held at Shinjuku Kakiden, which the late Haruzo Hayashiya considered his life's work, striving to experience and learn from his aesthetic.

During his interactions with Professor Hayashiya, he received rigorous guidance from him, and the new powder-glazed tea bowl he presented at his last solo exhibition at our gallery received an excellent passing grade.

This latest creation, following in the tradition of the powder-glazed tea bowls, features a simple shape that fits comfortably in the palm of the hand, and the powerfully painted semi-circular landscape catches the eye.

The white of the slip glaze is alluring, and the interior is generously filled, so the green of the matcha tea will surely stand out beautifully.

This exhibition will feature not only tea ceremony ceramics, but also everyday tableware, primarily focusing on the Kohiki style.

Mr. Iwase is sincere and always has a smile on his face. We hope you will enjoy looking at his work.
