Mr. Ima is a veteran ceramic artist who, after studying under the legendary ceramic artist Seimei Tsuji , built his own kiln in his hometown of Nagaoka 38 years ago. The Shigaraki ware he creates is very pure and clean, and although he will be 67 this year, you can feel his youthfulness and strength in his work.
In addition to her pottery work, she also devotes herself to the tea ceremony and is involved with the "Nagaoka City Tea Ceremony Culture Association," a non-school tea ceremony organization established by Nagaoka City. It's wonderful that a ceramic artist also so earnestly practices the tea ceremony.
Now, in this exhibition, our gallery's first in three years, we will be presenting recent works of tea ceremony ceramics and tableware. During the exhibition period, Ms. Ima will be at the venue serving a cup of matcha tea to everyone, and on Saturday the 12th, she will also host a tea ceremony in the Kakiden tea room "Zangetsu," where she will serve as the host. We would be delighted if you could come and see it.
