| Introduction Introduction |
Kazuo Yamaji , who has shown us elegant bowls and ceramic boxes with his paper-cutting patterns, is now taking on the challenge of making tea bowls. I imagine it will be an extremely difficult and arduous process. This is because tea bowls are inherently unapproachable. They must be silent, unapproachable, and possess a certain eccentricity. That's why there are so many black or plain tea bowls. Yamaji's works have attracted people with their sophisticated urban sensibility. However, for a tea bowl, being too friendly can actually be a hindrance. How will he overcome this "contradiction"? Knowing Yamaji, he's surely come up with a clever solution. He'll probably show us his work with a refreshing smile, saying, "This is my tea bowl."
