私が初めて護光さんと出会ったのは六年前。林屋晴三先生とご一緒に熊本市黒髪にあるご自宅に伺い、護光茶碗を前に談笑した事が昨日の様に思い出されます。 とても素敵な洒落たご自宅で、奥様の美味しい手料理に舌鼓を打ちました。 以来、私は、護光さんの実直で謙虚で優しいお人柄に惹かれ、未熟な私もかくありたいと思っている所です。
さて、弊廊で二年振りとなる本展では、新作の楽や信楽などの茶碗を中心に発表します。 彼の作る茶碗は、潔い造形と美しい釉で、掌にしっとりと馴染み、私も愛用しています。 最新作の茶碗も静かな形で小振りながらも存在感があるもので、お茶が美味しい事、格別でしょう。
残念ながら、阿蘇の麓にある護光さんの窯は、先の震災で被災されたとの事。 今は、不自由ながら、長野と湯河原の窯で焚いているそうで、一日も早い復興を願ってやみません。
年の瀬に向かうお忙しい時期かと存じますが、どうぞご清覧を頂ければ嬉しいです。
