Karatsu ware is loved by everyone, and I love it too. Regarding the appeal of Karatsu ware, Kouichi Mori of the Japan Ceramic Society says it's "the texture of the clay and the firing process," and I completely agree. Furthermore, the way the surface becomes smoother and deeper with use is surely another reason for its popularity. For this exhibition, I have asked seven Karatsu ware ceramic artists with whom I have a close relationship to create and will be presenting mainly practical tableware, sake sets, and other vessels.
