Introduction
Introduction
  1. My first encounter with Misaki's work was through a piece that was selected for the 3rd Kikuchi Biennale at the Chishin Museum of Art.

That large bowl with the wave pattern is a fresh and beautiful piece that left a strong impression on me.

This wave-patterned artwork is Misaki's specialty, or rather, his true forte, and is created using his unique technique called "thread removal."

Using extremely thin threads of 0.5 mm, the artist freely stretches the threads onto the artwork, applies pigment, and then peels off the stretched threads.

Through this meticulous and painstaking process, the beautiful and ephemeral wave-like patterns are created by simply repeating this process over and over again.

Looking back at Mr. Misaki's life, he spent a long time as a salaried worker, and after an unusual career as a TV program producer and hospital administrator, he made his debut as a ceramic artist at the age of 52.

Having also experienced being an inexperienced office worker, I can somewhat relate to what you're saying.

This will be his first solo exhibition at our gallery, and he will be presenting over 100 beautiful recent works featuring his "thread-pulling" technique, ranging from tea ceremony ceramics such as tea bowls, water pitchers, and flower vases, to everyday items such as tableware and sake vessels.

Ms. Misaki has attended almost every one of our exhibitions and has studied them extensively.

I deeply admire Tetsuro Misaki, both for his character and his work. I hope you will enjoy viewing his work.
