Introduction
Introduction
  1. Mr. Setsu's workshop is located in a scenic spot east of Higashiyama Gojo in Kyoto, along the Tokaido road.

There is a bamboo grove and a small pond nearby, and when I visited Setsu Workshop on Kasuga, I could hear the first song of the nightingale – it's a truly pleasant place.

Now, for this exhibition, which is the second at our gallery in two years, Ms. Setsu has given it the subtitle "Elegant and Refined."

Setsu passionately explained that she wanted to further express the beauty of the flowing lines and give them a strong presence.

Recent works have evolved further, venturing into new colors and bringing out a more beautiful sheen and depth on the skin's natural tone.

The late Mr. Haruzo Hayashiya, who sadly passed away recently, described Mr. Setsu's tea bowl as "modern Oribe," and cherished it, saying, "Both the shape and pattern of the tea bowl have a unique freshness, and it is a fine tea bowl for thin tea."

I can still vividly picture Professor Hayashiya narrowing his eyes and picking up a Setsu tea bowl in the tea preparation room.

Mr. Setsu, a well-mannered and fine young man, will be at our gallery every day during the exhibition period.

I will be presenting over 80 of my recent, elegant works, including tea bowls, flower vases, and sake vessels. I would be grateful if you could offer your guidance to these young potters.
