| Introduction Introduction |
Mitsukuni Misaki 's works express Misaki's philosophy. He was born during the turbulent Showa era, and in the midst of a fast-paced, busy time, he entered the world of pottery making, wondering, "Isn't there a way to live at a slower pace?" There are many ceramic artists like that, but few artists like Misaki, who have received numerous awards such as the Japan Crafts Association Encouragement Award, the Japan Ceramics Exhibition Grand Prize and Prince Chichibu Cup, and the Kikuchi Biennale Grand Prize, do not rest on their laurels but instead stick to their own way of life. The subtitle, "Vague and Vast," refers to living a leisurely life, like clouds floating in the vast sky, and Misaki's works continuously express this way of life, the emotions and atmosphere exposed to such leisurely time. Looking at Misaki's pottery, I feel as if I'm being transported through time and space to an ancient world. This exhibition will showcase over 40 of Misaki's captivating ceramic pieces.
