錦・金襴・緞子・羅・綾・唐組・・・
中島さんは、これらの古典織物(絹を素材にした文様のある織物)の制作者です。 東京都中野区の閑静な住宅街にある中島さんのご自宅兼工房には、それは大きな機織り機があり、寸暇を惜しんで制作に励まれています。
この古典織物の復元制作にあたり、原素材である繭や蚕の研究は無論、天然染料による糸染めと製織まで全ての工程を一人でなさっています。 蚕がはく糸は、糸のはき始めと終わりでは太さが違うそうで、座繰りの不均一さもあって素朴で自然な風合いが出るとの事。
さて、弊廊で初個展となる今展は「裂を愛でる」として、中島さんが丹精込めて織った「松立湧鶴亀文錦」という新春にふさわしいお目出度く美しい文様を中心に さまざまな袋物や帛紗、裂、額装された作品など100点余りを発表します。 平成廾九年丁酉の幕開けを飾る本展、どうぞご批評頂ければ幸いです。

| Biography Biography | 昭和30年 埼玉県秩父市生まれ 昭和53年 多摩美術大学 デザイン科・染織デザイン専攻 卒業 昭和61年 この頃より文化財修理に使用する古典織物の制作に携わる 取組んだ文化財は115件、うち国宝・重要文化財は20件 平成18年 伝統文化ポーラ賞 奨励賞 平成19年 民族衣装文化功労者 きもの文化賞 平成21年 S&R財団 ワシントン特別賞 |
