Kouhei Nakamura 's tea bowl making
Kouhei Nakamura , known for his sculptural style, has recently been working on and challenging himself with tea bowls, which have become one of the traditional products of Japanese ceramics since the Momoyama period.
Following in the footsteps of these two great predecessors—Chojiro's spontaneous approach and Hon'ami Koetsu's exquisite craftsmanship—tea bowls have evolved in various ways over approximately 400 years. And now, although Kouhei Nakamura hasn't spoken in depth about why he has become so engrossed in the creation of tea bowls, he is burning with passion for making them. I am watching him intently, believing that the key to his success lies in how freely he can free his mind and approach the task with an open heart.
