Mr. Iwase is a gentle and refined person who dedicates his life to pottery making. He has attended every tea ceremony I host at the Kakiden tea room in Shinjuku, and in recent years, he has produced some truly exquisite tea bowls. However, I also feel that his own appreciation for the art of tea ceremony could deepen even further. What kind of work will they be showing us this time? | Biography Biography | Born in Tokyo in 1946. In 1966, he studied under Professor Yasunari Matsui. In 1968, I studied under Professor Seimei Tsuji and Professor Kyou Tsuji In 1972, an independent kiln was built in Hachioji City. In 1985, he was selected for the 8th Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, and has been selected for numerous other exhibitions since then. Solo exhibition held at Matsuya Ginza in 1986; 27 exhibitions held since then. In 1998, he was selected for the 45th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and has been selected for numerous other exhibitions since then. Certified as a full member of the Japan Crafts Association in 2006. Selected for the 3rd Kikuchi Biennale Exhibition in 2009. 2014 2nd Ceramics Exhibition Selected Selected for the 9th Toki City Contemporary Tea Ceremony Pottery Exhibition in 2015. Selected for the 10th Toki City Contemporary Tea Ceremony Pottery Exhibition in 2016. In addition, solo exhibitions are held in various locations throughout Japan. |
