Nami Takahashi is a female ceramic artist who works diligently in Nerima, Tokyo, creating white porcelain pieces using the slip casting technique. Recently, his work has been selected for various open-call exhibitions, so many pottery enthusiasts have probably heard of him. The shadows of the "white shapes," which look as if they were carved with a knife, are beautiful, and I really like the refreshing and clean feel of the texture. Nami has attended almost every tea ceremony held at Kakiden by Professor Haruzo Hayashiya, who is actively exploring the modern tea ceremony, and it seems that her awareness of the tea ceremony is steadily growing. This will be the fourth exhibition at our gallery, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what new works will be created. Although it's a hot August day for my solo exhibition, I will be serving matcha tea brewed with ice water. I will be using tea bowls made by Nami, which I cherish, so I would be delighted if you would come to my gallery for a cup of tea and to cool off. Shop owner Takashi Yasuda |
| Biography Biography | Graduated from Musashino Art University Junior College, Ceramics Course in 1997. From 1997 to 1999, I was enrolled at the Faenza National School of Ceramics (Italy). Selected for the 2006 Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition. Selected for the International Ceramics Exhibition Mino in 2008 and 2014. Selected for the Kikuchi Biennale in 2013 and 2015 (Chiba Museum of Art, Tokyo). We offer sweets such as "Usugori" (thin ice) from Goromaruya in Toyama Prefecture and "Hagi no Kaori" (fragrance from Hagi) from Mitsukuniya Honten in Yamaguchi Prefecture. |
