| Introduction Introduction |
On a beautiful autumn day, I visited Nishida Kobo, located right next to Kochi Airport. I remember feeling my travel fatigue melt away when I saw Ms. Nishida's beaming smile as she greeted me.
My first encounter with Nishida's work was four years ago at the Kikuchi Biennale exhibition. I fell in love at first sight with his free-flowing painting style that makes the most of negative space, and I have been admiring his work ever since. Her sculpting, painting, and coloring have all evolved with each passing year, and as you all know, she has won numerous awards in recent open-call exhibitions.
Now, for this exhibition, my first solo exhibition at our gallery, in addition to my well-regarded photographic vessels "Ao no Ki" (blue vessels) and "Bokusai no Ki" (ink-painted vessels), I will also be presenting several ceramic tea bowls. She said that she had taken up tea ceremony practice on her own, discovered the joy of tea, and wanted to try her hand at making tea bowls as well. I would be grateful if you would take a look.
