I have long hoped that Morimitsu Hosokawa would become a refined connoisseur of modern pottery, creating ceramics with the same attitude as Hon'ami Kōetsu of the past or Kawakita Handeishi of the modern era. He has said that he would like to be that way, but perhaps the time is not yet ripe, as this solo exhibition, like his previous ones, features tea bowls, flower vases, and tableware, and he seems to be diligently working on creating tea bowls imbued with deep emotion. | Biography Biography | Born in 1972 After working at Doraku Kiln in Mie Prefecture and Futoan in Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, he opened his own kiln in Kumamoto in 2005. Since then, solo exhibitions have been held throughout Japan. |
