| Introduction Introduction |
Mr. Ima is a ceramic artist who is single-mindedly dedicated to Shigaraki ware in his hometown of Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. After learning Shigaraki ware from the late Kiyoharu Tsuji, a master of modern crafts, he built an anagama kiln in Nagaoka, and this year marks the 35th anniversary of its opening.
Now, this exhibition will feature calligraphy by my close friend, actor Susumu Kurobe. I hope that the beautiful and striking Shigaraki ware by Ms. Ima and the powerful calligraphy by Mr. Kurobe will create a delightful exhibition, where they "multiply" rather than "plus".
Recently, Ms. Ima has become completely immersed in the world of the tea ceremony, and together with Ms. Kurobe and myself, we even planned a tea ceremony. Whether you're a regular tea lover or a complete beginner, we hope you'll enjoy a cup of tea during this month of spring.
I recently had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Ima, and they are such kind and pleasant people that it put me in a very good mood as well. Ms. Ima will be at the venue every day during the exhibition. Please come and see the exhibition.
