Shion Tabata is someone who understands the beauty of antique utensils, having worked for five years alongside Shonosuke Toda of Tanimatsuya, Japan's top tea ceremony utensil dealer, with whom I had a close relationship. I entered the world of pottery over twenty years ago, and have since created masterful works in both painting and calligraphy. This time, I asked her to freely paint waka poems and pictures on eight-inch square plates and five-inch plates in the Kenzan style to bring joy to our lives, and I am sure she will respond with her unique sensibility. | Biography Biography | From 1985 for five years, I worked for Tanimatsuya Toda Shoten, a tea ceremony utensil dealer in Osaka. There, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see many masterpieces in person, and through that valuable experience, In 1991, he entered the world of pottery making and established a workshop in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. Since 2006, she has held a solo exhibition every two years at the Nomura Museum of Art in Kyoto. I always have my artwork on display in my home gallery. |
